Jewellery Care

ABOUT YOUR JEWELLERY

 Our jewellery is designed and handmade in Hatton Garden, London with love and care.

Our jewellery is composed of 18ct Yellow gold plated Sterling Silver and 18ct yellow gold plated Brass.
All items are plated in either 2 or 3 microns of fine 18ct Yellow gold.
All rings are plated with 3 microns of fine 18ct Yellow gold and coated with a hard wearing clear lacquer which is tarnish resistant and wear resistant as rings get a lot more wear than other pieces of jewellery. This does not affect the look of the jewellery and the shine remains the same.

 

REPAIR & RE-PLATING SERVICE

For items purchased within the last 6 months, repairs and re-plating are free of charge. 

For items where the plating has naturally worn away, we offer a re-plating service. Depending on the size of the item that needs re-plating, a quote will be given before we proceed with the process.  

We ensure all our high quality fine gold plating lasts for at least 1 year, depending on how the jewellery is cared for when worn and stored. 


HOW SHOULD I TAKE CARE OF MY JEWELLERY?

Always store your jewellery pieces individually so that they don’t rub together or scratch, preferably in your Annabelle Lucilla Jewellery soft-lined box which contains an anti tarnish tab which protects against tarnishing for up to 12 months. Particular care should be taken with gemstones to ensure that they do not knock against one another when stored. Also remember to keep your chains fastened so they don’t become tangled.

Take care to avoid extreme humidity or heat as this may cause tarnishing. Your gold plated and silver jewellery should be kept in a dark, cool and dry place. With time and wear, sterling silver will naturally become oxidised and eventually tarnish. Storing silver jewellery in a sealed plastic bag or airtight box when it is not being worn will keep out the air that causes oxidation.

 

WEARING YOUR JEWELLERY

To help protect the durability and high-quality of your jewellery, remove your jewellery when you shower, bathe or engage in heavy exercise, particularly when swimming in the sea or a chlorinated swimming pool. All of our gemstones are natural and therefore can be vulnerable to absorbing dirt and to chipping.

Avoid spraying perfume, applying creams or any other liquids directly onto your jewellery. Keep your jewellery away from extreme temperatures, humidity or sunlight. Avoid wearing your jewellery when using bleach, cleaning products and other chemicals.

 

CLEANING PRECIOUS METALS & GEMSTONES

To keep your jewellery looking bright and shiny and to remove the build-up of dirt and premature tarnish we recommend using our own Annabelle Lucilla Jewellery polishing cloth enclosed. Rub the piece in one direction rather than circular motions.

There is no need to use the polishing cloth on rings that have been coated in the tarnish resistant clear lacquer.

Clean your gemstones with a clean, soft, damp cloth after wearing. For cleaning dirt from behind gemstones and settings, take a very small amount of mild washing up liquid in luke-warm water and a soft toothbrush and gently rub until the dirt has been dissolved.
